The 33rd Conference of the European Chapter on Combinatorial Optimization
June 4–6, 2020, Saint-Petersburg, Russia
The conference has been cancelled due to COVID-19 outbreak. We appologize for the inconvenience. Please contact the organizers to get a refund in case you have already paid the registration fee.
The ECCO annual meetings aim to bring together researchers in the field of Combinatorial Optimization to present their work, share experiences, and discuss recent advances in theory and applications. The primary objectives are:
exchanging results and experiences in solving real-world combinatorial optimization problems
reporting on development and implementation of appropriate models and efficient solution methods for combinatorial optimization problems
establishing networking contacts between individuals and research groups working on related topics
promoting the work on combinatorial optimization (theory and applications) to the broader scientific community
identifying challenging research problems for the field, as well as promising research outlets (both in theory and applications)
promoting interactions with researchers in other related fields
Topics of interest:
theory and applications of combinatorial optimization
exact solution algorithms, approximation algorithms, heuristics, and meta-heuristics for combinatorial optimization problems
integer programming, global optimization, stochastic integer programming, multi-objective programming, graph theory and network flows
application areas include logistics and supply chain optimization, manufacturing, energy production and distribution, land consolidation, telecommunications, bioinformatics, finance, discrete tomography, discrete and hybrid dynamical systems, and other fields
Important dates
Abstract submission deadline: February 1, 2020 (submissions are still open for few days)
Authors are invited to submit a one page abstract as pdf using a LaTeX template. At least one author of each accepted paper is required to register and present the paper at the conference. Submissions should be uploaded through EasyChair.
A special issue of an international refereed journal containing selected full length papers will be dedicated to the conference.
Financial Aid
The conference budget includes a limited amount of funds for fee waivers for PhD students.
To apply, please send an email (with your cv, publication list, research interests) to Alexander S. Kulikov and ask your advisor to send (by email) a support letter. Priority will be given to students presenting their work at the
conference.
Venue
The conference is hosted by St. Petersburg Department of V.A. Steklov Institute of Mathematics of the Russian Academy of Sciences which is located in the very center of St. Petersburg. St. Petersburg is particularly beautiful in the late spring — early summer, the white nights season. The city is surrounded by wonderful tsar parks and palaces; an excursion to one of them will be a social program of the conference.
Pay the registration fee. Regular: 180EUR, student: 150EUR (see above for the financial aid program for students). The fees will be 20EUR higher after March 15. The registration fee includes
lectures, proceedings, coffee breaks, conference dinner, social program (and does not include lunches and taxi transfer).
Book a hotel. May–June is a tourist season. We encourage you to book a hotel in advance to get a reasonable price. The registration page, in particular, contains several prebooked options for the following hotels (in walking distance from the institute):
Polikoff mini-hotel,
Baskov mini-hotel.
Get visa support. Citizens of many countries require a visa to enter Russia, though the visa requirements differ for different countries. We encourage you to start the visa preparing process in advance. Note that e-visas are also available. As usual they have pros and cons. Pros: 1) they are easy to get; 2) they are free of charge; 3) no need to visit the embassy, one can apply online. Cons: 1) the e-visa only allows to visit St. Petersburg (but not Moscow, for example); 2) e-visa cannot be used to enter the city by train; 3) one should be very careful when applying for it: since this is just an online form, nobody checks its correctness; this means that if there is a typo in the name, there will be a problem at the customs. Please contact the regitstration manager regarding your visa application process, we would be happy to help you to select the best option depending on you citizenship.
Order a taxi transfer. (If needed.)
Register an accompanying person. This is needed, e.g., to get visa support for an accompanying person. Extra-tickets for the social event and conference dinner will be published closer to the event.
